BMW 5 Series Water Damage Lawsuit & Settlement Details
According to a number of owners, BMW manufactured cars that were susceptible
to water buildup and damage in the trunk due to sunroof drainage tubes
becoming clogged. The water would back up into the trunk area and damage
electrical systems located in that area of the car. The owner who originally
brought the lawsuit forward said his car shut down while driving with
his wife on a busy, four-lane road.
The final settlement will cover owners of 2004-2010 model year BMW 5 Series
cars that have less than 120,000 miles and are less than 10 years old.
Eligible owners can bring in their cars for free checkups and repairs.
If repairs have already been done, owners are eligible for up to $1,500
Problems with the BMW X5 Locking System
If you are an owner of a BMW X5 with a model year between 2008-2015, you
could be a victim of a faulty locking system that was recently exposed.
BMW tried to make 'keyless entry' more convenient by allowing access to
the vehicle without having to press any buttons on the keyless remote.
While this was designed to make it easier for owners to gain entry into
the car with their hands full, defects caused the device to unintentionally
lock the keys inside the car, along with whatever or whomever was left
in the car.
One of the plaintiffs in the latest BMW class action lawsuit alleged that
BMW's faulty lock system locked her young child inside her car. Her only
solution was to break a window, which could have led to serious injury
to her child or to herself. A defective locking system can easily lock
someone out of the vehicle or accidentally lock their children inside,
creating an extremely unsafe situation.
